Sunset Drive-In Theater - 44

People may not flock to drive-in movie theaters like they once did, but that is not the case in . If you’re planning a trip to the Central Coast, you have to check out a show at the Sunset Drive-In. For more than 60 years, the drive-in has offered movies year-round, and is one of only a few drive-ins still open in California.

TripAdvisor ranked this Central Coast gem as one of the top ten drive-ins in the nation. The site said, “Operating year-round since 1950, this vintage drive-in located on California’s Central Coast features more than 500 parking spots for film fans to enjoy the show.”

During the summer when it gets dark later, shows start at 8:30. You’re in for a real treat when you see a flick at Sunset, because it’s typically a two-for-one show. Tickets are very reasonably priced. Adults (12 & older) get in for $8, children (5-11) are $3. Keep in mind the box office is “cash-only, ” however, they do have an ATM inside the gates. Tickets go on-sale at 7:30, and you’ll want to get there around then so you can stake out a good spot in the parking lot, although there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
